Spirit’s Top 5 Highlights From 2022

Five of our favourite moments from 2022, all from the Spirit family

By on November 29, 2022

As 2023 is just around the corner, we wanted to take some time to reflect on some of 2022’s successes. The NHS and wider healthcare industry continues to face difficult challenges. We are proud to work with many brilliant organisations and people to work on projects that genuinely make a difference to people’s lives. Our Spirit family are at the heart of this, so although it was tricky, we’ve picked five highlights from 2022 that celebrate our fabulous family!

1. Chris Barker wins Growth CEO of the Year

In January 2022, Chris, our CEO, won in the 2021 Advantage Foundry Network’s annual CEO Awards. From double-digit growth in our digital division, to building new relationships in the NHS and industry, this award celebrates growth across the business.

Chris commented:

“Being selected as AFN’s Growth CEO of the Year largely comes as a surprise, although a very pleasant one! It’s always brilliant to be recognised for our hard work and dedication, but I must hand it to the rest of the Spirit family who I will be sharing this award with. The people around me are the reason that Spirit Health continues to grow and we’re formulating plans as we speak to improve and accelerate our growth even further, so there are exciting times ahead!”

2. The Spirit family continued to work hard, but have fun along the way

This included a trip down to London to watch Moulin Rouge on the West End. Between afternoon tea at Fortnum and Mason, to walking round Camden Market, the team had a brilliant day out. Vanessa Reading, our Culture & Comms Lead comments:

“I couldn’t believe how alike the characters looked and sounded from the film to the production. It was uncanny. Their voices were amazing even with all the dancing! The production is definitely worth a watch if you are thinking of a trip to London.”

3. Winning at the Business Culture Awards

It was only back in October that we attended the 2022 Business Culture Awards in London. We were thrilled to be finalists in three award categories. We ended the night with an award win (well done to Vanessa Reading!) for Business Culture Ambassador. Plus, a high commendation for Best Small Organisation for Business Culture. The team had a brilliant time enjoying a delicious meal and dancing the night away.

4. We are named an Outstanding Company to Work For

This had to be in our top five highlights from 2022 as it represents the hard work of our People team and everyone around the business in representing Spirit culture. Best Companies’ reports analyse employee engagement and accolades are given to companies who show dedication to improving and maintaining workplace engagement. We’re thrilled to have a Best Companies accolade for the second year in a row, being voted an Outstanding Company to Work For. This includes being Best Companies’ #3 Health & Social Care Companies to work for in the UK.

5. Helping the NHS to scale up virtual wards using Clinitouch

2022 has been a huge year for the roll-out of virtual wards. The NHS announced a plan for ICSs to deliver virtual ward capacity equivalent to 40-50 virtual beds per 100,000 population by December 2023. We’re proud to be the tech supplier for one of the biggest virtual ward rollouts in England. Working in partnership with Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland ICB, this partnership will see 16 digital pathways launched.

November marked the first pathway live; asthma. The virtual ward is designed to reduce the risk of re-admission and to improve the experience of people living with asthma. We’re thrilled to be working with the NHS to help people recover from the comfort of their own homes.

And that’s a wrap!
