Health Tech Newspaper (HTN) has announced the finalists for the 2022 Health Tech Awards and we are thrilled to be amongst them! We’re up for ‘most promising pilot’. Surrounded by other brilliant pilots and businesses, it’s an honour to stand amongst them.
What pilot are we talking about?
This first-of-its-kind pilot was launched in February 2022. Based in Wales, this pilot aims to support care home residents’ mental health with digital technology. We’re proud to have partnered with Swansea Bay University Health Board (SBUHB), Life Sciences Hub Wales and Digital Health Ecosystem Wales to bring this pilot to life.
How does the pilot use digital health technology?
This pilot uses our remote monitoring technology, Clinitouch which has been put in place across two large care homes in Swansea. The platform allows staff to log residents’ responses to pre-set questions. Clinicians can then see their answers alongside vital sign readings and key information can get to the in-reach team much faster than before. As a result, patients can be assessed, and actions can be taken quickly.
Why is this pilot important?
Being able to assess patients quicker is key for early intervention. This can reduce unneeded hospital admissions. Plus, patients can get care in a familiar and comfortable setting.
Pilots such as these are also key for the future of healthcare. They not only help to understand the impact of using digital health technology, but also to find out any factors that help or hinder usage.
From the beginning, this pilot has been focused on a small cohort of patients at a local level. It has been designed for specific use in a Welsh health board setting for mental health monitoring. We hope that by showing its effectiveness here, the project can be further adopted across Wales.
