Spirit Health is delighted to have been awarded a grant by the Welsh government for CliniTouch Vie, its digital remote monitoring platform, to support the management of COVID-19 patients in the community after their discharge from hospital.

Under the COVID-19 Digital Solutions Fund from Digital Health Ecosystem Wales, CliniTouch Vie is one of five successful digital health initiatives to receive grant funding of up to £30,000 for its new and innovative approach to deploying digital technology in response to COVID-19 and beyond.

The competition called for solutions that can help in the digital transformation of NHS Wales in its response to the COVID-19 crisis and business-as-usual (BAU) service delivery. Out of 142 entries, the winning five digital health initiatives were selected by a panel comprising the NHS, the Welsh Government, and industry representatives with responses co-ordinated by Digital Health Ecosystem Wales.

Spirit Health will now be working with Cardiff and Vale University Health Board to offer CliniTouch Vie to patients in Wales.

“Spirit Health is proud to be part of this important initiative to support patients discharged and recovering from COVID-19. By providing daily vital readings to clinical teams in the community, our remote monitoring platform, CliniTouch Vie, will help ensure that patients and their families receive much needed healthcare support and emotional reassurance, and that in the event of a change in their condition, clinical intervention can be fast and appropriate. It also gives clinical teams, who remain under a huge amount of pressure, additional resource to provide care for more patients in the safety of their own homes, as we continue to protect lives and the NHS.”

– Chris Barker, CEO, Spirit Health

As we work towards a ‘new normal’, innovative solutions such as these platforms can support our health services to be delivered in a different but safe way. Today’s winners are beginning a fantastic opportunity to test and develop technologies which offer the largest impact and best value solutions for a variety of health-related issues, for staff and patients.”

– Vaughan Gething, Welsh Health and Social Services Minister
