How to Signpost Patients
Patients are eligible if they have:
- BMI over 30, or
- BMI over 27 (for those from BME backgrounds or with a weight-related health condition)

A digital information leaflet is also available to share with patients, explaining the local service, its benefits and how to sign up.
How it works?
- Patient easily registers online for the private Spirit weight management service.
- Spirit team contacts the patient to complete a questionnaire and outline next steps.
- Patient summary document requested to ensure weight loss medication is safe and suitable for patient. Fee payable to practice.
- Consultation arranged with a healthcare professional for prescribing and guidance.
- Medication and essential supplies (e.g., wipes, sharps box) delivered directly to the patient’s home.
- Updates provided to the GP practice including medication initiation and completion
- Ongoing support with education and optional monthly check-ins with healthcare professional.
- Further payment to practice via the GP federation at 6 months.
